Saturday 30th October - Chilli Nachos served with yoghurt, spring onions and a little red pepper & jalapeno chutney.

Seared Salmon with Black Eye Beans

Friday 29th October - Seared Salmon served with cajun style black eye beans. Bacon, tomatoes, coriander and cajun spices.

Tuesday 26th October - Lunchtime at work is usually a sandwich but today it was ramen noodles with pork and spring onions.

Thai Pork Meatballs

Monday 25th October - Thai Pork Meatballs made with pork mince, onion, breadcrumbs, chilli, ginger, coriander, garam masala and egg. Cooked in the oven then added to a green curry with baby sweetcorn and red pepper. Some fresh basil and lime juice to garnish, served with jasmine rice.

Penne Napolitana

Sunday 24th October - Penne with Napolitana sauce. Tomatoes, olive oil, crushed garlic, basil and some sugar. Served with a rocket salad and bread.

Coquille St Jacques

Saturday 23rd October - Out for dinner at Chez Jules in Edinburgh. Grilled scallops and ham for starter then La Cote de Boeuf (Rib-eye steak) with frites.

Brunch

Saturday 23rd October - brunch at home. French toast with Stornoway black pudding and bacon.

Venison and Puy Lentils

Wednesday 20th November - Venison with puy lentils. Made with carrot, red onion, bacon and garlic and parsley. Not the best looking dish and would probably have been better with venison sausages to get a bit more fat into the mix. Good for a cold dark night though.

Spaghetti Carbonara

Tuesday 19th October - Classic Spaghetti Carbonara. Pancetta, egg, pecorino, parsley & garlic.. and no cream!

Baked Squid with Chilli Tomato Sauce

Monday 18th October - Squid was stuffed with a mix of breadcrumbs, anchovy, tomato and parsley then baked in a tomato, chilli and red pepper sauce. This was a slight tweak of a Nigel Slater recipe.
